Embrace the opportunity to gain valuable international social work experience and travel the UK while you are here.

Reed Social Care, part of Reed HealthCare, is currently recruiting for a number of Qualified Social Workers (QSWs) to work across the UK on a temporary basis. Next year alone, we predict we will need over 200 QSWs, on an ongoing basis, in order to meet our clients' requirements.

These positions are temporary and will last for initially three to six months. However, with the current nature of the UK temporary market, it is expected that we will be able to find new assignments for QSWs on an ongoing basis. The key to this is your flexibility and willingness to be based in different locations across the UK. We have 15 branches across the UK dealing with placing QSWs across a number of specialties.

On this website, we aim to provide you with all the information you will need to be able to make an informed decision about working and living in the UK; from registering with UK social work regulatory bodies to registering with a doctor; from expected pay rates to the client groups you will be working with.

Why Canada?

Why are we looking to recruit QSWs from Canada?

  • The Canadian model of Social Work has a number of similarities with the UK model, making the transition of work practices a more manageable process.
  • The Canadian BSW and MSW qualifications are widely recognised, by the relevant UK regulatory bodies, as being equivalent to the formal social work qualifications in the UK.
  • As a member of the Commonwealth, Canadians are eligible for the Working Holiday Maker Visa (WHMV). This visa entitles you to visit the UK as a working holiday maker and is valid for two years. Out of these two years, you are allowed to work for 12 months- ideal for temporary work.

For more information on the WHMV, please click here.

Please note, if you hold a British/EU passport or Ancestry visa, you will not require a WHMV.

We hope this site answers a lot of your initial questions about working and living in the UK. However, please do not hesitate to contact the International Team, if you wish to discuss anything further. We would love to hear from you and chat more about the fantastic opportunities available in the UK in 2007, should you choose to register with Reed Social Care.
