General Medical Council Guidelines on CPD
According to the standards set in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice guidelines, you must keep knowledge and skills up to date throughout your working life. In particular you should take part in regular educational activities which maintain and further develop your competence and performance.
Some parts of medical practice are governed by law or are regulated by other statutory bodies. You must observe and keep up to date with the laws and statutory codes of practice which affect your work. For further information, visit www.gmc-uk.org.
CPD Website
Developing our candidates is key to our success. We are committed to both Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Life Long Learning.
We do this through our proactive approach to career development and encouraging you to build skills by providing opportunities for training and personal development.
With this in mind Reed Doctor now offer a unique service that will enable all medical professionals, at all levels and across all the specialities, to search, identify and select courses that they are interested in attending.
Some of our current training partners include BMJ Publishing Group, BMG Masterclass, The Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and the British Association of Medical Managers.
Visit our website, browse the courses, register your interest and we will organise the rest!
Our courses are available to everyone at all professional levels. Managers and head of departments can also use this resource to send members of staff on identified courses and can even host some of the courses locally.
The Open University
As part of our comprehensive CME package, we have developed a close relationship with The Open University's School of Health and Social Welfare, the UK's largest provider of education and training for health and social care. The Open University's unique method of study is ideally suited, we believe, to our philosophy and the needs of our candidates.
The OU programmes allow you to study in your own time, with the support of top quality teaching materials, a personal tutor, regular assessments and feedback to aid your progress. The courses can be tailored to accommodate your own particular circumstances and there are very few restrictions on the time it takes to complete a qualification. Most courses can be studied individually, perhaps for professional updating in a specific area, or they can be studied in combination, enabling you to create a diploma or degree profile according to your needs and interests.
Employees of Reed Doctor are eligible for a special discount of 10%* on Open University Health and Social Welfare courses.
