Orthopaedic Technicians (Plaster Technicians)
It is essential that temporary employees hold any of the following qualifications or their equivalent.
- BOA Casting Techniques Certificate
- RCN [SOTN] Casting Techniques Certificate
- AOT Casting Techniques Certificate
Reed Health also require all temporary employees to be able to demonstrate the following competencies.
Core of knowledge
- Understand the reasons for using the cast as chosen by the doctor
- Suggest safe alternatives to suit the patient
- Recognise when an unsuitable cast has been requested
- Anticipate and prevent complications from occuring
Coordination
- Apply casts safely at a suitable speed to make best use of the materials available
- Handle patients in a way that minimises pain
- Precent accidental injury when using equipment
Reed Health provides Orthopaedic Technicians to clients in the following sectors.

- Private Hospitals
- Industrial sector, such as sales representatives
Grades of posts
The majority of our posts are at MTO2, MTO3 and MTO4 levels.
Duration of posts
Temporary positions can run from anything from one day to 12 months. Reed Health can also provide fixed term contracts for up to 12 months as well as permanent posts. Posts are mainly full time. |
