A BSC in Audiology is the new route to qualifying as an audiologist. It is also possible for people with degrees in other relevant subjects to become an audiologist. This can be done via a post graduate training course and clinical competency assessment.
The profession of audiology is undergoing a period of change. The UK government is supporting major changes in hearing and balance services with the training of new staff to support these improvements.
With the need for extra staff to help provide patients with a better service, there are more opportunities for audiologist's across the UK. Most positions are within the NHS and can involve:
- Pure tone audiometry
- Auditory brain responses
- Fitting and repairs of NHS hearing aids
- Otoecoustic emissions
- Paediatrics
- ENT clinics
- Neurology
Grades of posts
The majority of our posts are at MTO2, MTO3 and MTO4 levels.
Duration of posts
Temporary vacancies can run from anything between 1 to 2 weeks to 6 to 12 months. However, on average a locum post is around 2 to 3 months. Reed Health can also provide fixed short-term contracts for up to 12 months, and permanent posts. Posts are mainly full-time.
